Our story
Lilly is a corgi with a sunglasses habit. Our first set was a birthday present for her person: four striped mugs, one very cool dog, her name painted underneath.
Then the neighbors asked for one. Then their neighbors. Now we make a few hundred sets a week, still one at a time, still by hand, in a studio that smells of clay and coffee.
We kept the four from that first set. Every order is still four mugs, one in each stripe, because every family needs a way to tell whose mug is whose.
Then people started sending us pictures of what they loved: a dalmatian in a paisley headscarf, black-and-white photos, Japanese ink with a big red sun, folk-art leopards, posters that just say COOL PEOPLE LIVE HERE. So now there are seven styles to put your pet in, and a shelf of ready-made sets for anyone without a photo handy.
Then a customer asked for her shih tzu, headscarf and all, on something for flowers. Our sculptor said clay would lose the scarf, so our mosaic maker set it in stones instead: about 600 hand-cut mosaic stones on a cream stoneware vase. That’s the Mosaic Vase.
